Cheers & Jeers Dinner NN10

IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Carnival World Buffet

Dinner $23.99 plus tax includes non-alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages extra.

Meet at the restaurant.

Okay kids, heads up.

I had difficulty making a group res for our Cheers & Jeers Dinner. The Harrah's group wanted me to sign a contract and leave my credit card for 50 reservations to secure tables. If people didn't show up I would have to pay for their meals. I don't know some of the people who rsvp'd and to jump thru Harrah's hoops was a little too much for me. There were many other demands like waiting outside until our entire party arrived...    wtf.    no.

There was no Mom N Pop accommodating like we've had in the past.

Viva La Vegas!

So I bagged that and we will have to go commando,    ...the original meaning, not no underwear and do a doorbuster.

Underwear could be optional though on second thought.

Here is the plan:

Arrive early to beat competitive dinner crowd.

Vicki and I will be there early at 6pm and "try" to setup a head table and in a vicinity that can accommodate more around us.  Dunno, but hoping for the best, we're like that. We'll let the hostess/host know that everyone will be asking for the Cheers & Jeers group.

Apparently they won't seat you until your entire party is there. So parties of one or two might want to wait for more at the door or group up in advance and then come in. Although certainly a deuce table is not out of the question. Dammit, we need a secret handshake, why hasn't Billy thought of this dilemma in advance??  Try to avoid pairing with teabaggers and search for our clan thoroughly if you have to wait.  Ask to be seated next to us, the two bawdy women who've already caused a ruckus. We'll say to prepare themselves for a Cheers & Jeers deluge.  Apparently this is one of the largest buffets in Las Vegas so we'll see about that, huh. If they can't survive the onslaught of 50 of us, well then...they've slipped down on the best rated scale I'd say.  I've no idea of the logistics there. Use your best demeanor to be seated close to us.

Live blogging starts at 6:30. Thanks to rfall and Oke!

Please spread this info since I don't have everyone's email.

Cheers & Jeers Dinner NN10

IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Carnival World Buffet

Dinner $23.99 plus tax includes non-alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic beverages extra.

Meet at the restaurant NEAR THE DIAMOND CLUB ENTRANCE PROMPTLY AT 6:30PM. (The Diamond Club entrance is before you get to the main buffet entrance; directly across from the poker room.)

Okay kids, heads up, NEW PLAN!

Oke arrived at the RIO yesterday. Here is her email:

On just the off chance that dealing face to face  might pay off I
talked to the Mgr. directly and he is willing to reserve and set up a
table for at least 40 to start with, he's willing to add more if needed.
I even offered some type of deposit and he said not necessary.

He will take us as a group inside a 6:30 to 6:45 window of time. We're
to group up at the Diamond Club entrance. He will then take us around
the outer part, past the line and seat us.
It's really, really important that the group knows we need to be
organized and gather up as many people as possible in that window.
it's not that he'll refuse a late comer,  but we don't want to push
our luck.

What We Are About

A revolution is coming - a revolution which will be peaceful if we are wise enough; compassionate if we care enough; successful if we are fortunate enough - but a revolution which is coming whether we will it or not. We can affect its character, we cannot alter its inevitability.
--John F. Kennedy

You have the power to reclaim our nation's destiny. You have the power to rid Washington of the politics of money. You have the power to make right just as important as might. You have the power to give America a reason to vote again. You have the power to restore our nation to fiscal sanity and bring jobs back to our people. You have the power to fulfill Harry Truman's pledge of health care for all Americans. You have the power to give us foreign policy consistent with American values again. You have the power to take back the Democratic Party. You have the power to take our country back.
--Howard Dean

I am progressive. I am liberal. I make no apologies. I believe government has an obligation to create an even playing field for all of this country's citizens and immigrants alike. I am not a socialist. I do not seek enforced equality. However, there has to be equality of opportunity, and the private sector, left to its own devices, will never achieve this goal.
--Markos Moulitsas

Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country.
--Franklin D. Roosevelt

A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on.
--John F. Kennedy

We are trying to construct a more inclusive society. We are going to make a country in which no one is left out.
--Franklin D. Roosevelt

A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.
--John F. Kennedy

If civilization is to survive, we must cultivate the science of human relationships - the ability of all peoples, of all kinds, to live together, in the same world at peace.
--Franklin D. Roosevelt

The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerate the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than their democratic state itself. That, in its essence, is fascism - ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power.
--Franklin D. Roosevelt

Democracy cannot succeed unless those who express their choice are prepared to choose wisely. The real safeguard of democracy, therefore, is education.
--Franklin D. Roosevelt
